Conductor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002400

A material able to transmit charge carriers, energy or both, with the kind of conductor named by what is carried: electrical conductors carry electrons, holes or ions, thermal conductors carry heat, and acoustic conductors carry sound. Electrical conductors are compared by conductivity in siemens per metre, which is near 6 x 10^7 S/m for copper and reaches about 10^5 S/m for highly doped conjugated polymers such as PEDOT:PSS.
