Confidence level
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002401
The probability, expressed as a percentage or a decimal fraction, that a calculated confidence interval contains the true value of a population parameter. This value is chosen by the analyst before performing the statistical calculation and reflects the desired degree of certainty in the result. A common choice for the confidence level in chemical analysis is 95 percent, corresponding to a significance level (alpha) of 0.05.
