Uncertainty
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012416
A parameter associated with the result of a measurement that characterizes the dispersion of the values that could reasonably be attributed to the measurand. This concept reflects the lack of exact knowledge about the true value of a quantity. It is expressed as a standard deviation or a multiple thereof, defining an interval within which the true value is expected to lie with a stated level of confidence.
