Uncertainty factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012417
A numerical value used in risk assessment to account for limitations in the available data when extrapolating from experimental observations to human populations. These factors address interspecies differences, intraspecies variability, and the use of subchronic data for chronic effects. A common uncertainty factor for interspecies extrapolation is 10.
