Extrapolation factor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004305

A numerical factor used in risk assessment to account for uncertainties when extrapolating toxicity data from one species to another, or from high-dose experimental conditions to low-dose environmental exposures. These factors are applied to derive safe exposure levels. They typically range from 1 to 1000, depending on the type and magnitude of uncertainty.
