Safe concentration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010476
A concentration of a substance in the environment that is not expected to cause adverse effects on organisms or ecosystems over a specified period. This value is typically derived from toxicity tests and incorporates safety factors to account for uncertainties in extrapolation from laboratory to field conditions, and from short-term to long-term exposures. It represents a level below which ecological harm is considered unlikely.
