Reference dose

An estimated daily exposure to a chemical that is not expected to cause adverse health effects over a lifetime. This value is derived from toxicological studies and incorporates uncertainty factors to account for variations in human sensitivity. It is typically expressed in milligrams of substance per kilogram of body weight per day.
