Reference concentration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010059
An estimate of an airborne concentration that a human population, sensitive groups included, could breathe continuously for a lifetime with no appreciable risk of harmful effects. It is calculated by taking a NOAEL or LOAEL from a study and dividing by uncertainty factors, and it is stated as mass per volume of air, for example milligrams per cubic meter. Its oral counterpart is the reference dose.
