Incremental unit risk estimate

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005765

A quantitative measure of the additional risk of an adverse health effect, such as cancer, per unit increase in exposure to a hazardous substance. This estimate is derived from dose-response relationships and is used in risk assessment to evaluate the impact of environmental contaminants. It is expressed as a probability per unit concentration, for example, per microgram per cubic meter.
