Excess lifetime risk

The additional probability of an individual developing a specific adverse health effect over their lifetime due to exposure to a particular substance or condition, beyond the background risk in the unexposed population. It quantifies the incremental risk attributable to the exposure. This risk is often expressed as a numerical value, such as 1 in 1,000,000.
