Unit risk
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012439
The estimated excess lifetime cancer risk per unit of exposure to a carcinogen, typically expressed as the probability of developing cancer from continuous exposure to a concentration of 1 microgram per cubic meter of air or 1 milligram per liter of water. This metric is used in quantitative risk assessment to characterize the carcinogenic potency of a substance. It provides a standardized measure for comparing the risks associated with different environmental contaminants.
