Volume content
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012612
A clinical chemistry quantity found by taking the volume occupied by one isolated component and dividing it by the mass of the whole system it belongs to, for example the blood volume of a patient per kilogram of body mass. Its SI unit is the cubic meter per kilogram, often written as liters per kilogram. It differs from specific volume, the whole system's volume per unit of its mass, and from volume fraction, which divides by a volume.
