Critical study
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002701
The toxicological or epidemiological investigation that provides the most reliable quantitative data for establishing a health-based guidance value. This study is selected from all available research because it identifies the most sensitive adverse endpoint in the most relevant species or population at the lowest exposure level. The no-observed-adverse-effect level (NOAEL) or benchmark dose derived from the critical study serves as the point of departure for risk assessment.
