Maximum safe concentration

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007057

The plasma concentration of a drug above which adverse effects become likely, forming the upper limit of its therapeutic window. The lower limit is the minimum effective concentration. Dosage regimens are designed so that plasma levels stay between the two, and the gap is narrow for drugs such as digoxin and lithium.
