Exposure limit

A maximum permissible concentration of a chemical or physical agent in the environment or workplace that is considered safe for human exposure over a specified period. These limits are established by regulatory bodies to protect public health and worker safety. Examples include Threshold Limit Values (TLVs) and Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs).
