Occupational exposure limit
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008184
A regulatory threshold for the concentration of a substance in the air of a workplace, established to protect worker health. Exposure is measured in the breathing zone of an employee and is averaged over a specified period. These limits are set by government agencies or professional organizations and are expressed as a time-weighted average (TWA) over an 8-hour workday, a short-term exposure limit (STEL), or a ceiling value.
