Occupational environment

The sum of all external conditions and influences present in a workplace that can affect the health and safety of an employee. These factors include physical agents like noise and radiation, chemical agents such as solvents and dusts, biological agents like bacteria and viruses, and ergonomic or psychosocial stressors. Regulatory agencies establish standards for monitoring and controlling these factors to prevent work-related injury and illness.
