Biological monitoring

The systematic measurement of chemical substances or their metabolites in biological samples from individuals or populations to assess exposure or health effects. This approach provides a direct measure of the internal dose of a chemical absorbed by the body. Biological monitoring is a key tool in occupational health and environmental toxicology.
