Effects assessment

The process of evaluating the adverse impacts of a stressor, such as a chemical contaminant, on ecological receptors or human health. This assessment involves characterizing the nature, magnitude, and spatial extent of the observed or predicted effects. It is a key component of ecological risk assessment.
