Diffuse reflection

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003186

The scattering of electromagnetic radiation from a surface in multiple directions, rather than a single specular angle, due to surface roughness or internal scattering within the material. This process involves the light penetrating the surface, interacting with the material's interior, and then being re-emitted. It is distinct from specular reflection, which occurs at a smooth interface.
