Diffuse reflection

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005004

The reflection of light or other radiation from a surface in many directions, rather than in a single, specular direction. This occurs when the surface is rough or irregular at the wavelength of the incident radiation. It is a common process in the atmosphere, where sunlight is diffusely reflected by clouds and aerosols.
