Diffuse radiation

Solar radiation that has been scattered by atmospheric components such as air molecules, aerosols, and clouds, reaching the Earth's surface from all directions. This scattered radiation contributes to the overall global solar radiation received. It is responsible for the brightness of the sky on a clear day and the illumination under cloudy conditions.
