Specular reflection

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011168

The mirror-like reflection of electromagnetic radiation from a smooth surface, where the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. The reflected rays maintain their relative spatial orientation, resulting in a clear image. This phenomenon is governed by Snell's Law and is distinct from diffuse reflection.
