Radiation damping
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009822
The loss of energy from a precessing nuclear magnetization to the surrounding environment through the emission of radiofrequency radiation. This phenomenon occurs when the ensemble of nuclear spins collectively radiates electromagnetic energy. It is a relaxation mechanism that contributes to the decay of the nuclear magnetic resonance signal.
