Radiation desorption
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009823
The removal of adsorbed species from a surface due to the impact of incident radiation, such as photons or energetic particles. This process involves the transfer of energy from the radiation to the adsorbed molecules, causing them to break their bonds with the surface and desorb into the gas phase. It is a key mechanism in surface science and can be induced by electron beams or laser pulses.
