Spin-spin relaxation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011225
The loss of magnetization in the plane perpendicular to the static field through energy exchange between nuclear spins, which leaves some spins precessing faster and others slower than the Larmor frequency. Static field inhomogeneity is excluded, since it adds a separate apparent decay described by T2-star. The signal decays exponentially with time constant T2, which is shorter than or equal to the spin-lattice relaxation time T1.
