Spin-lattice relaxation time

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011215

The characteristic time constant for the return of the nuclear spin system to thermal equilibrium with its surroundings (the lattice) after a perturbation. This process involves the exchange of energy between the spins and the molecular environment. It is denoted as T1 and is a measure of how quickly the longitudinal magnetization recovers.
