Rotational relaxation time
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010429
The characteristic time constant for a molecule's rotational motion to return to equilibrium after a perturbation, such as absorption of polarized light. This time is inversely proportional to the rotational diffusion coefficient and depends on the molecule's size, shape, and the viscosity of its environment. It is often measured using techniques like time-resolved fluorescence anisotropy.
