Rotational diffusion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010423
The random reorientation of molecules or molecular segments due to thermal energy, leading to changes in their angular position. This process is characterized by a rotational diffusion coefficient, which depends on the size, shape, and local environment of the rotating entity. It is a key factor in understanding the dynamics of polymers in solution and melts.
