Translational diffusion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012247
The net movement of molecules or particles from a region of higher concentration to one of lower concentration, driven by random thermal motion. In polymers, this process describes the overall displacement of entire macromolecules or segments within a solution or melt. The rate of translational diffusion is quantified by the diffusion coefficient, typically measured in square meters per second.
