Diffusion coefficient

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003194

A proportionality constant that relates the molar flux of a substance to its concentration gradient, as described by Fick's first law of diffusion. It quantifies the rate at which a substance spreads out due to random molecular motion. The standard unit for the diffusion coefficient is square meters per second (m²/s).
