Flux

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004540

The rate of transfer of a quantity, such as particles, energy, or volume, through a real or imaginary surface per unit area. Flux is a vector quantity, having both a magnitude and a direction associated with the flow. For particle flux, the SI unit is number of particles per square meter per second (m⁻²·s⁻¹).
