Flux of a beam of particles
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004543
The number of particles of a specified type passing in a beam per unit time, written dN/dt, with the SI unit of reciprocal second. For a beam of charged particles the flux is usually quoted as a current in amperes, equal to the particle rate times the particle charge. Dividing the flux by the beam cross-section gives the flux density, which equals the fluence rate for a parallel beam.
