Particle flux density
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008503
The number of particles or photons incident per unit time on a unit area of a plane perpendicular to the beam direction. It is a scalar, in contrast to the vector particle current density, and is commonly given in particles per square centimetre per second. In neutron activation analysis the neutron flux density at the sample position sets the rate at which radionuclides are produced.
