Flux perturbation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004544
The alteration of the neutron flux distribution in a medium due to the introduction of a sample or detector that absorbs or scatters neutrons differently from the surrounding material. This effect can lead to inaccuracies in measurements if not properly corrected for, especially in neutron activation analysis. The perturbation can be either a depression or an enhancement of the flux.
