Fluxional
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004545
Describing a molecule or ion that undergoes rapid, reversible intramolecular rearrangements, leading to the interchange of chemically equivalent atoms or groups. These rearrangements occur on a timescale that is fast relative to the experimental observation method, such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The dynamic nature results in an averaged spectrum.
