Magnetic equivalence

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006901

A condition in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy where two or more nuclei not only have the same chemical shift (chemical equivalence) but also couple identically to all other nuclei in the molecule. This means their coupling constants to any given nucleus are identical. Magnetically equivalent nuclei are also chemically equivalent.
