Chemically induced dynamic nuclear polarization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001976

A non-equilibrium nuclear spin state polarization observed in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra during or immediately after certain chemical reactions. This phenomenon results in strongly enhanced absorption or emission signals for specific nuclei in the reaction products. The effect arises from the spin-sorting mechanism that occurs in radical pair intermediates, providing detailed insight into radical reaction pathways.
