Perrin equation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008681

An equation that gives the rotational diffusion coefficient of an isolated dissolved molecule or dispersed particle as kT divided by 6 pi times the solvent viscosity times the cube of an equivalent hydrodynamic radius for rotation. Rotational diffusion is therefore far more sensitive to size than translational diffusion, where the Stokes-Einstein relation contains the radius only to the first power.
