Persistence length
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008682
A measure of the stiffness or rigidity of a polymer chain, representing the characteristic length over which the direction of the polymer chain remains correlated. For a worm-like chain model, it is the length over which the tangent to the chain at one point becomes uncorrelated with the tangent at another point. A larger persistence length indicates a stiffer polymer chain.
