Semi-rigid chain
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010736
A polymer chain that exhibits a degree of stiffness or persistence length significantly greater than that of a flexible random coil, but less than that of a perfectly rigid rod. These chains have limited conformational freedom due to steric hindrance or strong intramolecular interactions. Examples include certain polyelectrolytes and liquid crystalline polymers.
