Rigid chain
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010356
A polymer chain that possesses a high resistance to bending and rotation around its backbone bonds, resulting in a relatively stiff and extended conformation. This rigidity often arises from the presence of bulky side groups, aromatic rings, or conjugated systems within the polymer structure. Such chains are characteristic of many liquid crystalline polymers.
