Fluorescence polarisation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004520

A spectroscopic technique that measures the degree to which the emitted fluorescence light remains polarized after excitation by polarized light. This phenomenon is dependent on the rotational mobility of the fluorescent molecule, which is inversely related to its size and the viscosity of its environment. Changes in fluorescence polarization are used to study molecular binding events, protein-protein interactions, and enzyme activity.
