Rotational isomeric state
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010428
A specific conformation of a polymer chain segment defined by the fixed dihedral angles around its backbone bonds, corresponding to energy minima. These states arise from the hindered rotation around single bonds, leading to discrete preferred orientations. The statistical distribution of these states determines the overall conformation and flexibility of the polymer chain.
