Isomeric transition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006203
A radioactive decay process where an excited nucleus in an isomeric state de-excites to a lower energy state by emitting a gamma ray or by internal conversion. This transition occurs between nuclear isomers, which are nuclides with the same atomic number and mass number but different energy states and measurable half-lives. The emitted gamma ray energy is characteristic of the specific nuclear transition.
