Nuclear transition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008121
A change in the energy state of an atomic nucleus, often accompanied by the emission or absorption of electromagnetic radiation or particles. This occurs when a nucleus moves from a higher energy level to a lower one, or vice versa. Gamma decay is a common example, where a nucleus in an excited state emits a gamma ray photon.
