Relaxation reagent
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010173
A paramagnetic substance added to a sample in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to reduce the spin-lattice (T1) and spin-spin (T2) relaxation times of nuclei. These reagents accelerate the return of excited nuclei to their equilibrium state, which can shorten experiment times and improve signal-to-noise ratios. Gadolinium complexes are common examples used in medical imaging.
