Echo time

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003542

The time interval in a pulse-echo nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiment between the initial radiofrequency excitation pulse and the peak of the resulting spin echo signal. This parameter is a key determinant of the contrast in magnetic resonance imaging, as different tissues have different T2 relaxation times. By varying the echo time, typically measured in milliseconds, an operator can weight the final image to highlight specific tissue characteristics.
