Spinning sidebands

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011216

Satellite lines in a solid-state NMR spectrum recorded with magic angle spinning, appearing on both sides of an isotropic peak at integer multiples of the spinning frequency. They arise when the spinning rate is lower than the width of the shift anisotropy, so the anisotropy is not averaged out completely. Spinning faster moves them further from the centre band and lowers their intensity.
