Vertigo

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012554

A specific type of dizziness characterized by a sensation that either the external world is spinning around the individual or that the individual is spinning. This false sense of motion is a symptom of a disturbed sense of balance, often originating from dysfunction of the vestibular system in the inner ear or the central nervous system. Exposure to certain neurotoxic chemicals, including solvents like toluene and heavy metals like mercury, can induce vertigo as a clinical sign of toxicity.
